Yes, this is a basic stand and yes, it is better than many in this price range.
Personally I wouldn't recommend mixing if you have any of the thicker Tama stands - the tubing on this is very thin but highlighted in the description.

Good, could be a bit more stable
Tama makes excellent hardware, but in my opinion i would go for the classic flatbases stands from DW.... Not to say these are bad in any way!
