great sounding but very heavy
they sound amazing! very linear, good low end, very honest in the mids.
unfortunately they are very heavy, and not very comfortable to wear. thats why i ended up sending them back, as i got crazy headache from wearing them :(
if neumann puts out a lighter or more comfy version, i would buy again immediately

Excellent sound, build quality but I wouldn't buy them again.
Slightly bass-forward headphones which are still very neutral.
I've found them exceptionally good for analysing bass detail which could make them a great companion to NS10-style speakers.
I've had a really easy time spotting plosives with these headphones and judging sibilance.
Do remember that they are slightly bass-forward, so I would avoid mixing bright.
These are heavy headphones but they are so well balanced I find them more comfortable than my lighter Beyerdynamic DT770s.
The big issue is replacement parts. The earpads are €70, and don't seem come with the L-R driver felt cover, so at the moment mine are pretty filthy and I'm not sure I have an option to properly replace it.
The pleather/vinyl cover on the headband has also completely come off. The headband itself is fine, but it is also something I don't see an option to replace.
This means that, while these headphones are exceptional sounding, with great build quality and comfort, these are very hard to recommend for long-term use, especially if you plan to use them extensively like I do.
If you plan to use them as a secondary reference point this is less of an issue as you'll be using it just a few minutes a day.

Great price for stepping up into the professional level
I have used this for almost two years now and I say it is a definite upgrade if you want to go from prosumer to actually professional.
You might take a few weeks to get used to it and it might need calibration for my taste (which is easily done through plugins like SoundID) but the transients, the bass extension, the clear definition and separation between tracks has absolutely helped me as mixing engineer stepping up from my beyerdynamic dt770
