Prima instrument voor een heel goede prijs.

Heb hem nu een paar dagen in huis, dus dit is een eerste indruk. Ik had al een semi akoestische GB5 bas van Sire in huis, die prachtig is afgewerkt, goed speelt en klinkt. Ik heb lang getwijfeld tussen de J en de PJ bas van Sire, maar het is dus de PJ geworden vanwege het brede sound palet.
Ook deze is heel mooi afgewerkt. Geen enkele onvolkomenheid. Hij komt vrijwel gestemd uit de doos en de intonatie is ook gelijk goed. De actie was wat hoog, maar ik kon hem prima wat lager afstellen zonder fret buzz. Hij is niet te zwaar, is goed in balans en speelt prima. Het klank palet is met de actieve preamp enorm, dat wordt nog flink experimenteren. Maar ook in de passieve stand klinkt hij uitstekend, zeker met alleen het P element. Het brug element klinkt wat zachter, ik weet eigenlijk niet of dat standaard is bij een PJ bas.
De sustain met de roasted hard maple hals is fantastisch. Ik weet niet, het lijkt wel of de preamp ook subtiel wat compressie toevoegt. Ook met de actieve EQ op neutraal klinkt de bas wat voller op de actieve stand dan op de passieve.
Tuners lopen soepel en de potmeters, ook de dubbele, voelen stevig aan. Erg blij ben ik met de balans knop waarmee je de elementen kunt mixen. Kortom, ik ben er blij mee, uitstekende prijs kwaliteit verhouding. 1000 euro zou ook nogeen redelijke prijs zijn voor wat je krijgt bij wijze van spreken.
