I recently bought a reel to reel tape recorder and wanted to add Leader and 'Tails' to some blank tapes I had bought. I wanted to do this so that I could use all of the length of the (expensive) tapes and also, importantly, so that the recorder would automatically stop at the ends of the tape.
The tape splicing block is well designed such that once the tape is placed in it it stays put in that position while you cut it and join the new leader tape to it using splicing tape.
I found videos on you tube showing how to do this as I had not previously used a splicing block and it is fairly straight forward - the splicing tape is the tape that joins the leader tape to the recording tape.
The leaders and tails I've added are performing as expected to i am very pleased!

Der Schneideblock hilft sehr gut, wenn man einen perfekten Bandschnitt machen möchte. Allerdings: Eine ruhige Hand und Geduld braucht man trotzdem! Übung macht den Meister!
